A short history

East West Partners lists 1998 as the project start (East West Partners), and developers broke ground in May 1999. Developer Roger Perry described Meadowmont as a "new urbanist," mixed-use design where people could live and work in the same area (The Daily Tar Heel). The original DuBose home on the site is now part of UNC's Paul J. Rizzo Conference Center (meadowmont.net).

The plan includes Meadowmont Village with its shops and restaurants, a town park, the YMCA Swim Club, the UNC Wellness Center, an elementary school with soccer fields, the Paul J. Rizzo Conference Center and The Cedars of Chapel Hill, a retirement community (East West Partners). Walking trails and open space run through the community (meadowmont.net).
